Mexican tenor Andrés Moreno García has made appearances around the world in countries including Mexico, Germany, United States, Italy, Israel among many other countries.
In the 2019/20 season, Andrés Moreno García will make his role debut as Eusebio in Hans Werner Henze and Hans Magnus Enzensberger’s La Piccola Cubana, singing at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Osterfestspiel in Salzburg. Andrés will also make his debut as Un Cenciaiulo in Mascagni’s Iris with the Berliner Operngruppe at the Konzerthaus Berlin, Ein Wirt in Der Rosenkavalier, Kuska in Mussorgsky’s Chowanschtschina, Erster Philister in Samson et Dalila and singing again this season Erster Priester in Die Zauberflöte, Borsa in Rigoletto, Vierter Jude in Salome, Parpignol in La bohème and Gastone in La Traviata. In concert, Mr. Moreno García will perform as the tenor soloist in the Grandes Trópicos! Festkonzert Humboldt 250 with the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin. Andrés Moreno García will also perform in the »WELCOME« – KONZERT, ADVENTSKONZERT KINDERCHOR DER STAATSOPER and Liedrecital at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
In the 2018/19 season, Mr. Moreno García made his role debuts as Malcolm in Macbeth alongside Plácido Domingo, Erster Priester in Die Zauberflöte, Borsa in Rigoletto, as well as singing Gastone in La Traviata again in his second season with the Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
In the 2017/18 season, Mr. Moreno García made his debuts in the roles of Gastone in La Traviata, Parpignol in La bohème, Vierter Jude in Salome, Offizier in Ariadne auf Naxos and Primo Soldato and Consul in L’incoronazione di Poppea with the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Delil in Giovanna d’Arco at the Konzerthaus Berlin, tenor soloist in Dvorak’s Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solennelle with the Evangelischen Kirchengemeinde Dahlem. In concert, Mr. Moreno García sang with the Georgian National Opera and Ballet Theater of Tbilisi and the Kinderopernhaus Lichtenberg.
In the 2016/17 season, Mr. Moreno García opened with his role debut as Ferrando in Così fan tutte with Yale Opera. He made his debut with the Glimmerglass Festival singing the role of Edmondo in Donizetti’s L’assedio di Calais and Slim in Oklahoma!. On the concert stage, he appeared as a soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Waterbury Symphony Orchestra and Stravinsky’s Renard with Orchestra New England.
In the 2015/16 season, Andrés made his debut as Alfredo in La traviata with IVAI in Israel, Rodriguez in Massenet’s Don Quichotte and Francis Flute in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, both with Yale Opera. He appeared as the tenor soloist in the Mozart Requiem with members of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and Haydn’s Paukenmesse with The Hartt School of Music.
Andrés Moreno García recently made his debut as Rodolfo in La Bohème with IOPE (Festival Musica è Musica) in Italy, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Lippo in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene and Bill in Barber’s A Hand of Bridge with Hartt Opera Theatre as well as Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi and Beppe in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci with Opera Connecticut.
In 2017, Andrés received the Phyllis Curtin Career Entry Prize from Yale Opera and First Prize from American Opera Idol Competition. He advanced to the New England Regional auditions of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and received an encouragement award after placing first in the Connecticut District. He has also been a semi-finalist in the Grand Prix de l’Opera de Bucarest. Most recently, he was granted awards from the Opera Index Vocal Competition, Giulio Gari Competition, Opera San Miguel Competition and Amici Competition.
Andrés Moreno García holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Hartt School of Music and a Master of Music degree from Yale School of Music. Andrés is a scholarship recipient from the Liz Mohn Kultur- und Musikstiftung and joins the Internationales Opernstudio der Staatsoper Unter den Linden throughout the 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
